The Saudi Arabia of the north

Alright, this is a technology blog, and I try not to be political, my friends get to hear that stuff. 😉

But I have to say I feel incredibly lucky to be living in Norway. The Sunday Times has an article about the problem with Norways wealth and calls it the Saudi Arabia of the north. Some of it is a bit exaggerated, but it’s nice to see an outside view for once. We are really lucky to be living in Norway, and I wish we could stop whining. I don’t mean there’s nothing to improve on, and we should continue to improve, but lets at least stop the whining.

Sure, the prices are high on some goods, but it wouldn’t be a bad thing if we had to cut down on alcohol and driving private cars that spews out contamination (alright some other stuff is expensive too, but these are the things most norwegians whine about). Most people don’t really have to cut down either, even though the prices irritate them. I know; some people have little compared to others. And we should not stop improving. But the vast majority is off just fine, and they’re incredibly well off compared to many other countries. Try moving to Lebanon (alright, cheap shot, but think about how it would be).

Time to heal my social conscience and make a donation to the less fortunate. You should too if you’re able. 🙂
