Music Rights Insanity

I’m using Yahoo! Launch at work to have something good to listen too, and really like the service. Without paying about 4 bucks a month you don’t get very good sound quality though, and I’d happily pay it to enable the extra features and better quality. I really WANT to pay these bucks. Seriously. But they don’t let me!

Every time I click the link to buy LaunchCast Plus it tells me they don’t deliver this service in my area. I don’t know but I’m guessing it’s because of the music rights. The music industry seems to be completely anal about agreements beeing made for each country separately. I’m guessing this is why music stores like Apple iTunes is only launched in some countries.

To top it off, Launch keeps feeding med adverts for buying LaunchCast Plus. Yes, please. I will, if you let me!

Hibernate Performance articles

I talked to a friend today, and he is implementing an intranet system with Hibernate. They are having performance issues, even though they are using caching and lazy loading. It’s probably due to a bit of a complicated database model, and they might need to tweak some of the SQL that is generated. I did a google and found some relavant articles:

I’ll be intrested to see what he ends up with. I’m convinced it will perform ok with some tweaking, you just have to figure out what to tweak. 😉
