There is a forum over at java.net which is moderated by Denis Mikhalkin which is working on the next Mustang release of Java. They will use the threads as input to what to prioritise for the next version.

Flex alternative
Oh, and as ClientJava points out, The Lazlo platform goes opensource on the same day as Flex. As with Flex it seems to be a backend for genrating flash frontends on the servierside. Excellent.
