Comment spammers driving me insane

Jeez, comment spammers are really hitting this site. I run Spamassassin but a lot of the comments end up in my moderation queue. So I scan them and delete most of them, but I really don’t get comments like this:

This is such a wonderful and informative way to reach others. I Will be more than glad to share this site

No links, no nothing. I approved some more today too, and I’m not quite sure if it’s spammers or not. The language looks really much like what the spammers are using. I bet they are using this just to piss me off. 😉

Java and PHP communities

Indicthreads has an article about why they are not using a Java based CMS, but one made in PHP here.

I also chose a PHP based (WordPress) system for this blog, and have been looking into EZPublish lately. It’s really feature rich, and with it’s flexible object definitions through the web it seems usable for most scenarios.

The difference between the Java and PHP communities seems to be their focus. The Java community seems to have a great deal of focus on reusable APIs and backend software (Tomcat, Geronimo, Struts etc.) while the PHP community seems to be focused on more complete products (Mambo, Drupal, Gallery, Kplaylist). That’s why, when I need a complete product to avoid coding it myself I usually end up with PHP based solutions. This is probably already changing a bit inside the Java community and we are seeing more unpolished products like Magnolia, eXo and Liferay. As it matures I think they will be able to compete easily with PHP based solutions.

Music Rights Insanity

I’m using Yahoo! Launch at work to have something good to listen too, and really like the service. Without paying about 4 bucks a month you don’t get very good sound quality though, and I’d happily pay it to enable the extra features and better quality. I really WANT to pay these bucks. Seriously. But they don’t let me!

Every time I click the link to buy LaunchCast Plus it tells me they don’t deliver this service in my area. I don’t know but I’m guessing it’s because of the music rights. The music industry seems to be completely anal about agreements beeing made for each country separately. I’m guessing this is why music stores like Apple iTunes is only launched in some countries.

To top it off, Launch keeps feeding med adverts for buying LaunchCast Plus. Yes, please. I will, if you let me!
